Arts Council Funding Application
HEADACHE LIVE will be much like a resurrected mammoth that decides,
after spending a millennia in the ice (during which time its favourite
ferns have perished), to eat you. It will be a lot like a futuristic
orange sent back in time for you to eat for breakfast. It will be like a
concert, but not a concert. Like a reading, but not a reading. Like a
play, but not a play. More of a musical, of sorts. Would you like to come?
HEADACHE LIVE, will be a bit like Edith Sitwell and William Walton's
'Façade', but without the megaphone. It will also be a bit like the ending
scene of Full Metal Jacket where J.T. "Joker" Davis, the main character,
marches through war-torn Vietnam, singing the theme song from the Mickey
Mouse cartoon, and reminding himself that he is alive.
HEADACHE LIVE is mostly about the difference between words and actions,
and the difference between the spaces between words when we say them and
we think them. It is also about the colours blue and yellow, London,
psychic torment, and the salvational power of love. It is our belief that
a sufficiently well-produced interpretation of the recorded material would
succeed in identifying and locating the emotional leak in our Earth's
atmosphere, and would therefore save the world forever. Or something. At
the very least it would provide people something to think about, talk
about and go to.
